Pastoral Care

Spiritual care and the Volunteer Chaplain program

The Spiritual and Pastoral Care Department is here during tough times to help patients, their families and our team members “soar on wings as eagles, to run and not grow weary, to walk and not be faint.” –Isaiah 40:31

Around-the-clock support

With the help of our Volunteer Medical Chaplain Associates, we are pleased to offer pastoral care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to patients, their families and team members in all Ballad Health hospitals.

Our volunteer chaplains include representatives of various Christian denominations in our area who supplement the services of our paid pastoral care team.

We also have representatives from most major world religions. A list of these resources is distributed to all Ballad Health facilities as we endeavor to provide appropriate spiritual support to all patients and families.

Who can be a Volunteer Chaplain?

When selecting our Volunteer Chaplains, we look for people who will adhere to our Code of Ethics and relate to the patient’s particular religious understanding without encroaching on other beliefs or attempting conversions.

How do I apply?
