Good communication with your health care team is an important part of your healing journey.

Regardless of your communication or language needs, we’re committed to providing the highest quality of health care, regardless of language, cultural background or disability.

Available Services

Communication and language assistance is provided through the use of various aids, interpreter services and written translations to ensure effective and clear communication, all free of charge.

Aids and services currently available are the following:

Interpreter Services

  • Video remote interpreters (VRI)
  • On-site interpreters – American Sign Language, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese
  • Over-the-phone/audio interpreters – approximately 200 languages available

Translation Services

  • Written translations – Spanish (other translations available upon request)

Auxiliary Aids

  • Phone amplifiers
  • Video phones
  • Illuminated magnifiers
  • Adaptive call lights
  • Oral readers
  • Closed captioning

Request an Interpreter – Any Time

If you need a sign language interpreter or a spoken language interpreter to access any of our services, programs or activities, you may request one. 

Arrangements may be made for an interpreter during the registration process or by communicating the need to the emergency department staff or to one of your Ballad Health caregivers at any time during your visit or stay at any of our facilities.
