Toy donations needed at Niswonger Children’s Hospital

This Christmas, Niswonger Children’s Hospital is giving everyone the chance to play Santa – and the effects will be felt throughout the year.

The children’s hospital is accepting toy donations to brighten the holiday for patients on Christmas, as well as to offer comfort and fun the rest of the year.

Lindy White, an accomplished healthcare leader with more than 20 years of experience in healthcare leadership in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, is returning to Ballad Health as the president of the Ballad Health’s Kingsport operations. In this role, she will serve as chief executive officer of Holston Valley Medical Center and Indian Path Community Hospital, and all outpatient services.

Ballad Health Foundation hosts first Night of Hope and Miracles event, benefitting Niswonger Children’s Hospital

The holiday season – and future – will soon be even brighter for our region’s children, thanks to a new, festive evening of fun and joy hosted by Ballad Health Foundation.

The first-ever Night of Hope and Miracles event will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, at MeadowView Conference Resort & Convention Center. Proceeds will support Niswonger Children’s Hospital, which provides local babies and children with access to lifesaving treatment, care and technology, as well as support and partnerships for healthy lives.

New Medicaid health coverage for Virginia adults

Medicaid expansion in Va. – enroll today

New quality, low-cost health coverage will be available to up to 400,000 Virginia adults, starting January 1, 2019.

This includes many people who work in retail, construction, childcare, landscaping, food service or other jobs that don’t provide health insurance.

It is possible you or a family member are now eligible, even if you applied for Medicaid in the past and were denied.

The reasoning behind planned Ballad Health NICU updates

As part of the systemwide improvements that Ballad Health is making to the delivery of healthcare across the region, we are focused on enhancing pediatric care for the thousands of children and families we serve.

One of the improvements we are making is to realign our level III neonatal intensive care (NICU) services at Niswonger Children’s Hospital, where high-risk newborns can benefit from the expertise provided at the region’s state-designated perinatal center.

Ballad Health holding events for Virginia Medicaid enrollment

Thanks to recent legislation in the Commonwealth of Virginia, 400,000 more adults will have access to healthcare coverage in 2019. Approximately 21,000 of those newly eligible Virginians live in Southwest Virginia, and Ballad Health is working to help them understand their options.

The health system is helping people find out if they qualify for Medicaid and assisting them in applying for coverage during the free enrollment events listed below.

Ballad Health reports first quarter results

Strong financial results, significant capital investment highlight first quarter with combined budget

Ballad Health today announced financial results from its first operating quarter under a combined operating budget. For the quarter, operating cash flow (operating EBITDA) for the newly merged health system improved to $49.7 million from $45.3 million in the same quarter prior year, a 9.8 percent increase. Total cash flow (EBITDA) improved to $52.6 million versus $42 million in the same quarter prior year, a 25.2 percent increase.

Four Ballad Health hospitals select new names

As Ballad Health continues its work to bring together hospitals, medical practices and other services to form a Community Health Improvement Organization, one small but important step is rolling out the new Ballad Health brand. This includes discussions between hospital leadership within the system and local leaders, community boards and other key stakeholders to outline the naming convention for facilities under the Ballad Health name.
