History
Indian Path opened its doors in 1974, with the first two patients being treated on March 1. It began as part of Hospital Corporation of America (HCA)
The hospital was named after a trail that Native Americans traveled, which crossed through the east side of what is now Kingsport. There are shadow boxes next to the elevator that displays the Native American artifacts found during the digging of Indian Path’s foundation.
In September 1998, Indian Path became part of Mountain States Health, which was formed as a non-profit entity after Johnson City Medical Center purchased six for-profit hospitals in the region.
This seven-story facility has grown to include 178 operating beds and offers an array of services including emergency services, lung nodule clinic, surgical services, family birthing services and a dedicated spine center.
