Niswonger Children’s Hospital invites community members to help sweeten Valentine’s Day for patients by filling out special Valentine cards.
Community members can choose from five card designs and complete a quick submission form to participate. Valentines will be printed with only the sender’s first name and handed out to patients on Feb. 13. The submission form will be open until noon on Sunday, Feb. 8.
“Every year, our patients are showered with love from our community, and it’s such a joy to see,” said Chris Jett, chief executive officer of the Niswonger Children’s Network. “No kid wants to spend a holiday in the hospital, so recreating holiday traditions is one small way we can make their stay a little more enjoyable. It’s such a treat to see how these simple cards can brighten up a child’s day in the hospital.”
Community members who wish to send a valentine may do so by filling out the form at balladhealth.org/valentines-cards and selecting one of the predesigned cards. Cards can be filled out for free, and only first names will be included on the card. Due to the volume of submissions, individual requests cannot be accommodated.
“It might seem like a simple gesture, but things like Valentine’s cards can really bring a sense of normalcy during a scary time like a hospital stay,” Jett said. “Big or small, we love to see support from our community.”
