Expecting parents and growing families are invited to attend Ballad Health Niswonger Children's Network's free Community Baby Shower on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from noon until 6 p.m. at Norton Community Hospital.
Hosted by Ballad Health Niswonger Children’s Network’s Strong Starts program in partnership with Humana, the Community Baby Shower is designed to connect expectant parents with valuable resources, healthcare experts and community organizations that support healthy pregnancies and growing families.
During the event, attendees can meet Ballad Health Medical Associates pediatricians and OB/GYN care teams, tour the Family Birth Center at Norton Community Hospital, learn about car seat safety and other resources available to growing families and enter to win a variety of door prizes. Attendees should enter the main entrance of the hospital, and the event will be held in the lobby. Light refreshments will be provided throughout the event.
“Preparing for a new baby can feel overwhelming, especially for first-time parents, but no family should have to navigate that journey alone,” said Chris Jett, CEO of Ballad Health Niswonger Children’s Network. “This Community Baby Shower brings together healthcare professionals, community organizations and local resources in one place so parents can ask questions, build relationships and leave feeling more confident about welcoming their newest family member. It’s another example of how we're working alongside our communities to improve the health of children and families across the Appalachian Highlands.”
Ballad Health Niswonger Children’s Network’s Strong Starts program offers free prenatal education, childbirth preparation, breastfeeding support and parenting classes throughout Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. The program helps families build confidence, access healthcare services and develop healthy habits before and after the arrival of their baby.
“Healthy beginnings are built through education, support and strong partnerships,” said Emily Blanton, assistant vice president of child health programs at Ballad Health Niswonger Children’s Network. “Our goal is to make sure every family has access to trusted information, compassionate care and the community resources they need during pregnancy and beyond. Events like this create meaningful connections that can make a lasting difference for parents and their babies.”
The Community Baby Shower is free and open to expecting parents, new parents and families with young children. Families are encouraged to attend to learn more about the services available through Ballad Health and community organizations dedicated to supporting maternal and infant health.
