Family Birth Center at Indian Path Medical Center

Indian Path Medical Center’s Family Birth Center provides family-centered, single-room maternity care, also known as LDRP.

For most patients, this means labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care happen in the same, comfortable room. Our rooms are beautifully decorated and also have the latest monitoring equipment. Experienced obstetric and newborn nurses provide skillful attention. Neonatologists, specialists in the care of special-care newborns, are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week if needed. Should a Caesarean birth be needed, fully equipped OB surgical suites are located inside the Family Birth Center.

Our caring staff and a calm, intimate atmosphere are waiting for you at the Family Birth Center. If you have any questions about our Family Birth Center or need to register for classes, please give us a call at 423-857-7240.

Our family birth center offers:

  • Private rooms
  • LDRP in same room
  • Lactation specialist
  • Support Newborn Golden Hour
  • Childbirth classes
  • Inpatient OB certified nurses
  • Midwifery program

Midwifery Program

In conjunction with MSMG OB-GYN, the midwifery program at Indian Path Medical Center recognizes pregnancy and delivery as normal lifecycle processes that require limited medical intervention. Parents-to-be receive a combination of education, counseling and prenatal care; as well as hands-on assistance during labor and delivery, and support once the baby is born.

Based on the best evidence available, The Midwives Model of Care provides individualized plans for care and healing:

  • Midwives monitor physical, psychological and social well-being from pregnancy through delivery
  • Trained midwives work closely with obstetricians who are available at all times
  • Should additional medical attention or technology be necessary, Indian Path Medical Center can meet those needs
  • Midwifery can reduce the incidence of birth injury, trauma or Cesarean sections
  • Midwives can be primary caregivers for general women’s health
