Patient-focused mammography, breast and ultrasound services in Johnson City

We believe that women deserve access to a safe space designed specifically for their healthcare needs.

The Women's Health and Imaging Center was created with this in mind – a place where women can obtain highly specialized diagnostic imaging services in a compassionate, caring environment.

About your local women’s center

At the Women's Health and Imaging Center, we're committed to making your visit as pleasant and quick as possible.

Our expert technologists will guide you to your private changing area and provide you a locker to store your valuables during your visit.

Once you're checked in, we offer a calm, spa-like sitting area while you're waiting for your screening.

Our services and procedures

Our staff utilize the region's leading radiology and diagnostic equipment to offer a wide range of  women's services to get you detailed results.

Mammography

Mammography exams – or mammograms – use low-dose X-ray technology to see the inside of the breast. Mammograms are one of the most effective methods for early breast cancer detection.

Women over 40 should get a mammogram each year, unless otherwise instructed by their doctor.

The Women's Health and Imaging Center offers 3D mammography, which is more accurate than traditional mammography technology.

  • Clearer images
  • Greater confidence in the results
  • Fewer false positives

Learn more about the differences between 2D and 3D mammography or view frequently asked questions about mammograms.

Our office welcomes walk-in appointments for screening mammograms daily.

Breast ultrasound

Ultrasounds – or sonograms – use sound waves to produce images of structures within your body.

Breast ultrasounds utilize sonography to look inside the breast.

  • Allows your physician to check blood flow and detect abnormalities (such as cysts)
  • Often used alongside a mammogram when a change is seen or felt in the breast

Genetic testing

Ask one of our providers about our genetic testing program. Genetic BRCA testing allows us to see if you are at a greater risk of breast cancer.

Other provided services

Our team of skilled providers includes oncology breast navigators who are dedicated to working with you throughout your breast cancer journey.

These navigators are available to provide information about education about breast cancer, including resources for support and prevention programs. They will help you find your way through the often-complex process of visits and treatments.

Ballad Health offers resources for those living with breast cancer and information about cancer care for women. You can also visit the American Cancer Society website for more resources on breast cancer, such as breast cancer screening guidelines.

Accreditation

All our imaging equipment is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

The Women's Health and Imaging Center is proud to be an ACR Breast Imaging Center of Excellence – highlighting our mission to provide superior imaging services to the women of Washington County.

Low-dose radiation

Your physician will only ever recommend imaging tests and scans that are necessary for making the most accurate diagnosis possible. We will always use the lowest amount of radiation needed to produce high-quality images. Our Johnson City women's center utilizes equipment that allows us to significantly reduce radiation doses.

All our technologists have taken the Image Wisely pledge to protect our patients by using the safest levels of radiation available.

Hours of operation

We are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for scheduled mammograms, breast ultrasounds, bone density studies and other procedures.

Our office is also open for screening mammogram walk-in appointments Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Same day or next day appointments are available.
