Nurse intern I program (RN / LPN)
After successfully completing the Foundations/Fundamentals of Nursing course, you may be hired as a nurse intern I. The role of the nurse intern I on the team is like that of a nursing assistant.
Nurse intern I qualifications
- Enrollment in a BSN, ADN or LPN program at an accredited school of nursing
- Successful completion of Foundations/Fundamentals of Nursing and your first clinical rotation as evidenced by an official transcript
- Successful completion of the AHA Basic Life Support course

Nurse intern II program (RN)
The nurse intern II program is a seven-week program offered during the summer prior to RN graduation.

- Gain valuable insight into nursing by working under the direction of experienced nurses and nurse managers
Nurse intern II qualifications
- Enrollment in a BSN or ADN nursing program
- Expected graduation date within the next two semesters
- GPA of 2.75 or above preferred
- Two letters of recommendation from nursing instructors
- Interview

*The statement of interest and application for the nurse intern II program will become available between December and mid-March
Program selection
Selection for the nurse intern II program is based on satisfactory references, your GPA and an interview.
You must demonstrate motivation and commitment to the professional practice of nursing, while also expressing interest in employment with Ballad Health following your graduation.
Nurse intern II schedule
Before clinical rotations begin, all new members of the program will receive orientation specific to their role.
You will work with an RN preceptor during clinical rotations. These rotations may consist of days, evenings and nights. Most shifts are 12 hours. Depending on the schedule of your preceptor, you may also be required to work every other weekend and night shift.

Nurse intern III program (RN)
The nurse intern III program will coincide with the start of your senior year in nursing school.
This program offers students a variety of advantages over their peers, including:
- Networking with nursing leaders
- The chance to determine your field of nursing before you start your RN career
- Hands-on experience with patients, nurses and physicians
The team role of a nurse intern III is like that of a nurse assistant.
Nurse intern III qualifications
- Must have completed the nurse intern II program or be enrolled as a senior RN student within two semesters of RN graduation
- Official transcript within a 2.75 GPA preferred
