Provider Ratings & Reviews

At Ballad Health, we want our patients to have all the information they need to choose the physician that’s right for them. That’s why we make our provider ratings and reviews publicly available on our website.

The Provider Rating Score is an average of all responses to care physician related questions on our nationally-recognized Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. Press Ganey is the national standard for taking patient surveys and turning the information into actionable data that hospitals and healthcare providers can use to improve patient experiences.

These reviews come from real Ballad Health patients, and we only include reviews from within the last year to make sure that everything is up-to-date.

Search for physicians by their Provider Rating Score

We want to make finding the right physician for your healthcare as easy and user-friendly as possible. By clicking the Doctors link in the menu on our homepage or using the search function, you can choose the kind of provider you’re looking for in the dropdown.

Each of our providers has a card that gives you a quick rundown of their specialties, primary locations and the reviews they’ve received from real patients.

You can look for providers based on their ratings by using our search function. Our Provider Search allows you to filter providers by their rating.

Once you’ve reached this page, you’ll see a series of dropdowns that you can use to filter the results displayed. Simply click on the “Reviews” dropdown and select from the options to filter the providers by their ratings:

  • 4.5 Stars & Up
  • 4 Stars & Up
  • 3.5 Stars & Up

What does the star rating mean?

After a patient visits one of our providers, we randomly send out surveys to ask about their experience. The score on the provider profile on our website reflects those survey results so that prospective patients can get a good idea of what to expect when visiting a new doctor.

How we calculate Provider Rating Scores

Press Ganey measures patient responses on a scale of one to five, with five being the best possible score and one being the lowest.

We post both positive and negative comments from the survey to give you an unbiased rating for our providers. However, we do not post comments that risk the privacy of patients or are libelous, profane or inappropriate.

In order to receive a Provider Rating Score, our providers must have at least 30 patient surveys to display on their profile. Again, this helps ensure that we’re delivering an unbiased, balanced summation of patient experiences.

Example questions from the survey

The questions that we ask patients are on a scale of one to five have to do with different aspects of a doctor visit and overall experiences with physicians. Here are a few examples of questions on the survey:

  • During your most recent visit, did your physician explain things in a way that was easy to understand?
  • During your most recent visit, did this provider show respect for what you had to say?
  • Was your recent visit as soon as you needed it?

Third-party reviews

Each Ballad Health provider’s Provider Rating Score also includes patient comments other public sources like Google, Facebook and Yelp.

These publicly posted reviews are available to anyone to see across the web, so we cannot edit them or ensure that they were actually written by a Ballad Health patient.

Provider rating FAQs

Ballad Health patients are randomly surveyed by Press Ganey via email or mail after an appointment with one of our providers. Press Ganey then extracts the provider’s score to help calculate their rating, and they remove any patient identifiers from comments to create anonymous patient reviews.

Press Ganey uses a random selection process, so there is not a way to volunteer to leave a review. If you’re interested in being eligible for selection, make sure that your medical records are up-to-date with your current email and mailing address.

Reviews only stay up for 365 days after they’re posted, so you might not see the review you wrote if it has been up longer than a year. We do not share libelous or profane comments or any comments that have private health information that would give away your identity.

We don’t edit the content of reviews to make them more positive or negative. We do, however, remove any information that could be used to reveal a patient’s identity or medical condition to ensure all reviews stay anonymous.

Yes, we publish negative reviews so that you can take the good with the bad when choosing your provider. We do not post any reviews that are profane, libelous or inappropriate to ensure that anyone can access a provider review without reading something offensive.

All patient information – like identifiable health conditions, names or any other identifiers – are removed from your completed survey so that any comments shared online are completely anonymous.
