Physician Profile

I was born and raised in Hialeah, Florida, but I began my journey in Tennessee when my family moved to Knoxville, which is where I attended high school. After medical school, I followed a good friend to Kingsport, and I have been here ever since. I like the people, the area and also the climate of this region. My mother always wanted me to be a doctor. Unfortunately, she passed away in a car crash when I was 21-years-old. I also had an uncle who was a physician during and after WWII, and he was a big influence on me. So when I graduated college with a BS in biology with a chemistry minor, the next logical step was for me to go to medical school. After attempting a brief six-month stint as a sixth grade teacher in Dalton, Georgia, I quickly realized that teaching school was not for me. I received my medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, and I completed my residency and internship in internal medicine at John Gaston City Hospital, also located in Memphis. My personal philosophy as a physician is first and foremost to do no harm. I have often found that I can make a diagnosis without ever examining my patient, but I must first listen. This is a great region in which to live and work. When patients choose Mountain States Medical Group, they are given access to excellent healthcare, and our referral base covers almost every need that a patient might have.
