Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery

Overview

Plastic and reconstructive surgery at Ballad Health can help you look more like your ideal self, or make part of your body feel and work more like it should. Meet with a caring plastic surgeon in East Tennessee or Southwest Virginia to learn about your treatment options. We’ll help you decide what care will benefit you most.

Is Plastic Surgery Right for Me?

Consider plastic surgery only if you:

  • Have a positive attitude
  • Are generally healthy
  • Eat well, exercise and don’t smoke
  • Don’t expect treatment to make you look perfect or be more popular or successful
  • Don’t feel pressured by anyone to change how you look

Cosmetic & Reconstructive Treatments

Ask a plastic surgeon if one of these procedures or another treatment can help you meet your goals for your appearance.

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation uses artificial implants or fat from your body to make your breasts larger and fuller. Most likely, you’ll receive implants made of silicone gel or saline. The implants don’t last forever, and a surgeon may eventually need to perform an implant repair. After surgery, schedule follow-up appointments as often as your doctor recommends.

Breast Reconstruction

Following a mastectomy, or breast removal, a surgeon can make new breasts on your body using artificial implants or fat from your body. You can get this treatment either right after mastectomy or at another time, depending on your needs. A few months after breast reconstruction, a surgeon can create a natural-looking nipple and areola using tissue from your body.

We also specialize in flap and tissue expansion, which many cancer patients prefer.

Breast Reduction

Whether you’re a woman or man, a plastic surgeon can reduce your breasts to a size you feel is right for your body. This procedure can help ease back, neck or shoulder pain, or treat gynecomastia (breast growth in men). Before getting this treatment, try to achieve a healthy weight.

Brow Lift

A brow lift can make you look more youthful and energetic by raising sagging eyebrows and reducing wrinkles on the forehead and between the eyes.

Eyelid Surgery

Reduce eyelid droopiness or puffiness with eyelid surgeries, such as eyelid lifts. A surgeon will remove extra fat and skin while reducing tiny wrinkles. If you have outwardly turned eyelids, which can happen with the lower eyelid in particular, we also provide ectropion repair.

Facelift

Tighten muscles and decrease wrinkles and fat throughout your face with a full facelift. Or ask your surgeon about a mini facelift (lower facelift) that targets the cheeks, neck and jaw area.

Liposuction

Liposuction removes extra fat to slim parts of your body, such as your waist, hips, thighs, butt, arms or face. Your surgeon can perform this treatment at the same time as a tummy tuck, breast reduction or some other surgeries. Before getting this treatment, exercise and eat healthfully to reach the right weight for your height.

Nose Job

Shrink, enlarge or reshape your nose with rhinoplasty. A surgeon might move or remove some nasal tissue, bone or cartilage to repair an injury, make breathing easier or help you feel better about how your face looks.

Skin Cancer Treatment

Cancer treatments include melanomas, which involve excisions and sentinel node biopsies.

Tummy Tuck

Reduce fat and remove loose skin on your abdomen with abdominoplasty. Unlike liposuction, a tummy tuck tightens muscles around your stomach. Before getting this treatment, exercise and eat healthfully to reach the right weight for your height.
