Welcome to MSMG General Surgery in Elizabethton

Office Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

We believe that physicians and surgeons have a responsibility to empower patients and provide them with the tools to live healthy, happy and productive lives.

This can be achieved through multiple treatment modalities that the patient and the healthcare team need to explore together.

What do general surgeons do?

General surgeons are trained to treat many benign diseases in different body systems, such as:

  • Thyroid goiters
  • Gallbladder disease
  • Appendicitis
  • Colon diverticulitis
  • Heartburn / ulcer disease
  • Hernias
  • And much more

They are also trained to surgically treat thyroid, breast, colon/rectal, stomach and skin cancers.

Our services

  • Breast surgery
  • Hernia repair
  • Laparoscopic surgery
  • Colon surgery
  • Thyroid / parathyroid
  • Upper / lower endoscopy

Where, when and how

General surgeons perform some procedures in their offices such as skin excisions. Most others are performed in hospitals and surgery centers.

Many procedures now are “same-day,” meaning the patient can go home that afternoon.

Many procedures are also “minimally invasive,” such as colon, gallbladder, anti-reflux and hernia surgery. This allows for less scarring and pain and helps patients resume daily activities faster.

Our surgeons also practice endoscopy, including gastroscopy for ulcer disease/reflux and colonoscopy for the diagnosis and treatment of colon polyps.
