Nurse Mentorship Program details & benefits

This structured nursing specific mentorship program connects experienced nurses with newer team members to offer personalized guidance, encouragement and opportunities for professional growth.

  • One-on-one support
Nursing skill development

New nurses benefit from the experience of seasoned team members. Your mentor will help you develop skills specific to your new role:

  • Learning best practices
  • Effective patient care strategies
  • Essential soft skills of the profession

Improved patient care

When nurses feel supported and confident in their practice, the effects are felt widespread through:

  • Higher-quality care
  • Efficient team member collaboration
  • Improved patient outcomes

Who gets a mentor?

  • Nurse Residents: Every resident in the Ballad Health Nursing Residency Program is automatically matched with a mentor.
  • New nurses: New nursing graduates are eligible to receive mentorship to help them confidently step into their positions.
  • Nurses changing roles: Those transitioning into new roles or specialties can request a mentor with experience in that role.
  • Ballad Health Academy students: All Ballad Health Academy students are matched with a mentor from their freshman year to high school graduation.

Ultimately, any nurse can apply for a mentor, and we want to make sure that, regardless of your needs, you get the guidance required for success.

How are mentees matched with their nurse mentors?

Our dedicated team matches mentors and mentees based on factors like shared specialties (e.g., ICU, pediatrics), career interests and personality. Our goal is to help you build meaningful connections with your team members while achieving your professional nursing goals.

How to apply
