Physician Profile

About

I was born an Army brat in El Paso, Texas, at William Beaumont Medical Center. I applied for medical school at James H. Quillen because at that time I was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and lived in Clarksville, Tennessee. While in medical school, I met my wife, Shasta, who is a pediatrician. We are happily returning to this region after a period away. We have family close by and many friends from medical school that are still in the area. This is a wonderful family place, and I am happy to have my children grow up here around the outdoor environment, friendly people and the four seasons. We have two children whom I love spending time with and enjoy being an integral part of their development and lives. In my spare time, I build and fly remote-control airplanes, helicopters and drones. My father is a retired cardiac surgeon who also retired from the Army. As a child, I had many experiences through him that inspired and focused me on the path to becoming a physician and a surgeon. I love being able to sit down and meet my patients and find out who they are as individuals. I help them understand the complex issues they face and turn a life-changing health challenge into a positive experience for my patients. I try not to make decisions for them; instead, I present information in a way they can understand so that they can decide what specifically works for them. It is important to make an accurate diagnosis and develop a good plan, but it is equally important to adjust that plan accordingly to meet an individual’s unique goals and expectations.
