An occupational therapist helps people of all ages improve skills needed for everyday activities. Our occupational therapists provide personalized, hands-on care to support your independence, safety and confidence at home, work and throughout daily life.
A hand therapist is an occupational therapist or physical therapist who specializes in treating conditions affecting the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder. Certified Hand Therapists have a minimum of three years of clinical experience, including 4000 hours or more in direct practice in hand therapy and have successfully passed a comprehensive test of advanced clinical skills.
Hand therapy should not cause pain. Some exercises or movements may feel challenging or uncomfortable at times, especially during healing, but your therapist will always work at a safe pace and adjust treatment to your comfort level.
Some patients feel better after a few visits, while others feel improvements gradually. Your therapist will track your progress and adjust your plan as needed.
