Pediatric outpatient therapy near you

Indian Path Community Hospital Outpatient Pediatric Therapy provides personalized outpatient therapy services for children and young adults.

Outpatient pediatric therapy helps children build the skills they need for everyday life. Through physical, speech and occupational therapy, kids learn to move, communicate, play and take care of themselves more independently. Therapy is fun, family-centered and individualized to support each child’s strengths and goals.

Our pediatric therapy clinics are intentionally designed with children in mind—creating a welcoming, engaging and developmentally supportive environment where each child can thrive. We provide individualized, one-on-one therapy sessions to ensure focused attention, meaningful connection and personalized care.

Pediatric therapists collaborate closely with you and your family to develop goals that honor your child’s unique strengths, needs and stage of development. By meeting children exactly where they are, we help them build the skills they need for greater independence, confidence and success in their daily lives.

How to get started with outpatient pediatric therapy

Does my child need a referral?

Many children begin outpatient therapy with a doctor’s referral, though insurance requirements may vary. If you have questions about coverage, please contact your insurance provider.

It’s recommended that you speak with your pediatrician or child’s provider about any concerns you have about your child’s development.

Scheduling an appointment

Once we receive your child's referral, our therapists will add them to the queue for age-appropriate therapy. When therapists have openings, we'll call you to schedule an appointment. If you want to check the status of your referral, you may call our office.

You can also use the Ballad Health app to view and manage your healthcare appointments, access visit details and keep your schedule organized in one convenient place.

Preparing for your child’s first visit

Please arrive about 15 minutes prior to your child’s scheduled visit to complete new patient paperwork. You should also bring your insurance card and a guardian photo ID.

We also recommend that your child wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement. You can expect to begin treatment on the same day as the initial visit and evaluation.

Frequently asked questions about outpatient pediatric therapy and our clinic

Outpatient rehabilitation includes therapy services you receive at a clinic while continuing to live at home. Appointments are scheduled, and you’ll return home the same day like any other typical doctor’s visit.

Children may receive one or more types of therapy, including occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech‑language therapy.

Pediatric physical therapy focuses on helping your child develop the motor strategies, strength, coordination and mobility needed to participate in daily routines at home, at school and in the community. Treatment is play‑based, functional and individualized to address your child’s developmental level and physical needs.

Physical therapy includes several core components:

  • Gross motor skill development
  • Strengthening and endurance
  • Balance and coordination
  • Gait training and mobility
  • Range of motion and flexibility
  • Postural control and alignment
  • Orthotics
  • Equipment and adaptive supports
  • Motor learning

Occupational therapy is family-centered, play-based and functionally oriented, with the goal of improving your child's participation in everyday routines.

Occupational therapy includes several core components:

  • Developmental skill-building
  • Sensory integration strategies
  • Self-help and daily routine skills
  • Play skill development
  • Parent and caregiver support and education
  • Adaptive and environmental supports
  • Visual-motor coordination skills
  • Fine-motor coordination skills
  • Emotional regulation
  • Executive functioning and cognitive skills
  • Social-emotional skills

Pediatric speech therapy goals are designed to help children develop communication and feeding skills needed for daily activities at home, at school and in the community.

Your child's speech therapist will focus on specific communication needs and develop a plan that is individualized, functional and developmentally appropriate.

Speech therapy includes several key components:

  • Speech sound production (articulation & phonology)
  • Language skills (receptive & expressive language)
  • Social communication (pragmatics)
  • Fluency (stuttering)
  • Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC),
  • Feeding and swallowing
  • Play skills

Therapy is designed to help your child grow, develop new skills and gain confidence—not to cause harm. Our goal is to help your child build skills in a supportive environment where challenge leads to progress, and progress builds confidence.

We work together with families to make sure each child feels safe, supported and empowered every step of the way.

Some children show progress after just a few therapy sessions, while others make gains more gradually—and both patterns are completely normal. Every child develops at their own pace.

Your therapist will continuously monitor your child’s progress, adjusting the treatment plan as needed to ensure it remains aligned with their needs and goals.

Progress is rarely linear, but every step forward—no matter how small—is meaningful. Each achievement is worth celebrating.

Choosing the right clothing for therapy helps your child move comfortably, participate fully and stay safe during all activities. Because therapy often involves movement, play, sensory exploration and hands‑on skill building, we recommend clothing that allows children to stretch, climb, sit on the floor and engage in active play.

General Clothing Guidelines for All Ages

  • Comfortable, flexible clothing that allows for easy movement (e.g., athletic wear, leggings, shorts, t‑shirts)
  • Closed‑toe shoes with good traction for safety during physical and motor activities
  • Avoid dresses or skirts unless paired with shorts or leggings underneath
  • Avoid loose jewelry, large hair accessories, or items that could get caught on equipment
  • Bring any orthotics or assistive devices your child typically uses

Patient parking is available in front of the building to the left and to the right. You will enter through the automatic doors in the front, turn to the right, and our clinic is located at the end of the small hallway.
