About Synergy Laboratories

Ballad Health offers a full-service reference laboratory dedicated to providing a superior level of service in the Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia regions.

Synergy is part of Ballad Health, and provides comprehensive clinical laboratory testing to physicians to aid in the diagnosis and/or treatment of disease or injury.

High-quality lab services

The quality of test results is directly related to the integrity of each specimen collected.

The proper collection and handling of specimens is critical, and we are committed to accuracy at every step of the process. This means you can rely on our test results.

Certifications

Our lab services are certified by:

  • The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
  • CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvements Act of 1988)
  • College of American Pathologists
  • The State of Tennessee Medical Laboratory Licensing Board

Staff expertise

Members of our technical staff are licensed by the State of Tennessee Medical Laboratory Licensing Board.

We also have team members who are nationally certified by recognized professional agencies.

And all of our healthcare professionals are dedicated to providing the highest quality, excellent service and patient-centered care.

Compliance

We comply with federal and state requirements for federally funded health care programs. The federal government requires us to notify you of the requirements that apply when ordering tests for which Medicare or Medicaid reimbursement is sought.

Only medically necessary tests for each patient should be ordered. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Inspector General, takes the position that the physician who orders medically unnecessary tests may be subject to civil penalties.
