The Boone McCrary, RN Memorial Scholarship Fund

Boone McCrary was more than a nurse — he was a hero. As a dedicated caregiver at Greeneville Community Hospital, Boone lived a life of service. He tragically lost his life during Hurricane Helene while attempting to rescue a civilian from dangerous floodwaters. In a boat with his dog, Boone made a final act of compassion that speaks to the very heart of nursing.

To honor Boone’s bravery and his commitment to nursing as his second profession, Ballad Health has established the Boone McCrary, RN Memorial Scholarship. The Boone McCrary, RN Memorial Scholarship Fund provides full financial support for an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. It covers:

• Tuition
• School-related expenses
• An additional stipend (less any other scholarships or grants)

The Nursing Education Fund

This fund was created to ensure our nurses continue to receive training on the latest techniques and procedures – even when budgets are constrained.

Donations to this fund help Ballad Health nurses continue their education by attending nursing conferences and programs that sharpen their skills, introduce leading-edge practices and open the door to new specialties and areas of care.
