Rabab Elmezayen, MD

Physician Profile

I am originally from Egypt, but I came to Johnson City for my residency and fellowship in infectious diseases at James H. Quillen College of Medicine. I ended up staying here because of the weather, location, good schools and the family-friendly environment. I have two children in college who are both passionate about medicine and want to help others. When I’m not working, I love to hike, listen to music and read about other cultures. I have many friends, and I enjoy going to the gym or attending meetings at my book club. My interest in medicine originated while growing up in my country, where I witnessed many people lacking proper healthcare and dying of chronic infections. Having always been drawn to health and fitness, I strongly believe that people are happier, more productive and positive when they are healthy. By having an impact on my patient, I can guide them to make informed decisions about their health, and this is what I enjoy most about being a provider. I also believe that listening to my patients is my most important tool as they hold the key to their problems.
