Physician Profile

Originally from Ohio, I moved to this area to work in spine surgery. I chose to work in Neurosurgery because I find it rewarding and challenging. My interest in medicine was influenced largely by my family, as my aunt was a nurse and my mother was an EMT. Their support and giving spirit lead me to medicine. I also had a mentor, Dr. Thomas Newcomb, who introduced me to the physician assistant profession. Being a provider is rewarding because I have the ability to help patients with their medical conditions and to get to see them improve. My personal philosophy for treating my patients is two-fold. First, I try and provide patients with the most cutting-edge care, and secondly, I treat all my patients as if they were my family. My favorite activities outside of work are weight-lifting, watching movies and reading. I like sewing and being outdoors in nature. Professionally, I enjoy helping Worker’s Compensation patients and participating in scientific research. I am also involved with my state physician assistant chapter and work as an adjunct faculty for the Lincoln Memorial Physician Assistant program.
