Physician Profile

I came to Johnson City for a pulmonary and critical care fellowship at James H. Quillen College of Medicine. Living here has been quite enjoyable with a combination of the rural peacefulness, the natural beauty of the lakes and a moderate climate. In the evening, I prefer to take a walk or to go fishing. I also enjoy playing basketball or ping-pong, and I like to paint whenever I have the time. I have loved every moment in my career as a physician: taking care of patients, performing procedures and working with colleagues, nurses and other healthcare workers. The satisfaction of helping people in the field of pulmonary and critical care medicine has been most rewarding to me. I am able to help those who are most in need, especially in the Intensive Care Unit. My interest in medicine was generated by my family, including my brother who works in anesthesia and critical care in Paris. I believe that communication is the most powerful tool to treat disease. I listen to my patients carefully and simply allow them to talk. After their worries have been addressed, I allow the patients and their loved ones to participate in all decisions related to their healthcare. This approach allows me to engage fully with my patients and ultimately provide better healthcare. My personal philosophy is that medical knowledge alone is not sufficient; I must treat every patient with respect, offer support to them and their families, give unbiased advice and let patients be a part of their own treatment.
