Neurosurgery at Johnson City Medical Center

Fellowship-trained, board-certified neurosurgeons providing advanced treatment of conditions of the brain and spine

From aneurysms and tumors to Chiari malformations (structural defects in the cerebellum), head trauma and hemorrhages to hydrocephalus (excessive accumulation of fluid), and optic nerve tumors, our neurosurgeons utilize the most advanced techniques and minimally-invasive procedures, putting you on the pathway to health and wellness.

Additionally, our surgeons are leaders in stereotactic brain surgery where lesions, frequently tumors, are removed via the assistance of image guidance. This approach results in a smaller incision, which facilitates improved wound healing and smaller scars.

Expertise and leading-edge technology

Our accomplished team of spine surgeons has the expertise, experience and advanced technology necessary to ensure you receive the very best, minimally-invasive spine care possible.

While traditional spine surgery is performed as “open surgery,” meaning the area of focus is opened with a long incision, allowing the surgeon to view and access the area of concern, our surgeons prefer to utilize a minimally-invasive surgical technique that avoids damage to the muscles surrounding the spine.

And in most cases, minimally-invasive spine surgery results in less pain after surgery and a more rapid recovery.

It’s important to note that while a minimally-invasive approach is preferred by our surgeons, some conditions still require the open method. Our advanced team of neurosurgeons will evaluate your medical condition and strive to choose the method that is best for you.
